Android Browser Alternatives-Top 10

Firefox (Android version)
Swiping the browsing window toward the left unveils a sidebar that shows thumbnails of your active pages. Though these are not necessarily "tabs," the way you interact with them is the same. At the bottom of this sidebar, you tap an icon marked with a "+" to open a new page.

Boat Browser
Just like a desktop Web browser, with Boat Browser, tabs are set along the top. To open a new one, you tap the "+" button on the right end of the tab toolbar, and enter a site's address in the URL box below the tabs. Once a page is fully loaded, the browser automatically scrolls the tab toolbar and URL box up, off-screen, in order to show you more of the Web page. To switch to another tab, you can also tap an icon on the toolbar that runs along the bottom of the browser. This brings you to a GUI where you swipe side-to-side through thumbnails of the pages you have open.

Dolphin Browser HD
Tabs work exactly like the way they do in Boat Browser -- and when a Web page is completely loaded, the browser will scroll it slightly down the tab toolbar and URL box off-screen.
The Dolphin browsers feature gesture user interfaces -- for example, if you scribble a "<" on the touchscreen, the Web browser will return to the previous page you viewed.

Maxthon Browser
Tabs are set along the top. You open a new tab by tapping the "+" button on the right side of the tab toolbar, and enter a URL.
Like the Dolphin browsers, Maxthon features gesture interactivity. And like Firefox, Maxthon also uses add-ons, although there were only seven available to install onto this Web browser when we tested it.

Miren Browser
Pages are listed as tabs along the top of this browser. Tapping the "+" button on the right side of this tab toolbar opens a page with a URL box. Miren shows pages in full-screen mode by default. Tapping a button on the lower-right of the screen summons back the Android OS status indicator bar that runs along the top.

NetFront Life Browser
In lieu of traditional tabs, NetFront Life goes for an unconventional way to help you navigate through your open Web pages. This browser shows off your bookmarks and browsing history through a 3D graphics user interface that works like how you would flip through folders in a filing cabinet, or record LPs in a rack.

Ninesky Browser
Tabs are set along the top, and the browser scrolls down to hide them whenever it completes loading a Web page. You can also jump to another tab by tapping an icon on a toolbar along the bottom. A window will pop open showing thumbnails of your active pages that you can tap to access them.

Opera Mobile
A prominently displayed navigation bar appears along the bottom (but can be set to go away when you view a Web page). Tapping an icon on this bar summons a pane showing thumbnails of your open pages. From here, you can tap on one to jump to another page, or open a new one.

Skyfire Web Browser 4.0
To switch to another tab, you tap an icon on the toolbar that's above the browsing window. A smaller window then opens in the center of the app, showing thumbnails of your open Web pages that you can tap on to jump to a particular one.

xScope Browser
XScope's default skin makes it look like what could be an Android-ized version of Google's own Chrome, right down to its colors and the shape of its tabs. Tapping an icon on the toolbar that's along the bottom opens a window showing thumbnails of your open Web pages. From here, you tap a thumbnail to jump to its corresponding page.

Top 10 Linux Distributions 2012

Top 10 Linux Distributions 2012

1. Linux Mint
The very popular Linux distribution, Mint, has a new version Linux Mint 13, Maya, and a new take on the GNOME 3.x desktop interface: Cinnamon 1.4. The result is, in my opinion, the best Linux desktop for experienced users to date. Linux Mint is an Ubuntu-based distribution whose goal is to provide a more complete out-of-the-box experience by including browser plugins, media codecs, support for DVD playback, Java and other components. It also adds a custom desktop and menus, several unique configuration tools, and a web-based package installation interface. Linux Mint is compatible with Ubuntu software repositories.

2. Ubuntu
Ubuntu is a complete desktop Linux operating system, freely available with both community and professional support. The Ubuntu community is built on the ideas enshrined in the Ubuntu Manifesto: that software should be available free of charge, that software tools should be usable by people in their local language and despite any disabilities, and that people should have the freedom to customize and alter their software in whatever way they see fit. “Ubuntu” is an ancient African word, meaning “humanity to others”.

3. Fedora
Fedora is the free version of Red Hat, who’s RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) has been a commercial product since 2003. Because of that close connection, Fedora is particularly strong on enterprise features, and it often offers them before RHEL does. Fedora also offers a six-month release schedule, and its security features are excellent. While some have viewed it as a cutting-edge distro for the Linux “hobbyist,” I think improvements over the years and widespread popularity have combined to make it a good choice for newer Linux users as well.

4. Debian
The Debian Project is an association of individuals who have made common cause to create a free operating system. This operating system is called Debian GNU/Linux, or simply Debian for short. Debian systems currently use the Linux kernel. Linux is a completely free piece of software started by Linus Torvalds and supported by thousands of programmers worldwide. Of course, the thing that people want is application software: programs to help them get what they want to do, from editing documents to running a business to playing games to writing more software.

5. Arch Linux
Arch Linux is an independently developed, i686- and x86_64-optimised Linux distribution targeted at competent Linux users. It uses ‘pacman’, its home-grown package manager, to provide updates to the latest software applications with full dependency tracking. Operating on a rolling release system, Arch can be installed from a CD image or via an FTP server. The default install provides a solid base that enables users to create a custom installation. In addition, the Arch Build System (ABS) provides a way to easily build new packages, modify the configuration of stock packages, and share these packages with other users via the Arch Linux user repository.

6. openSUSE
The openSUSE project is a community program sponsored by Novell. Promoting the use of Linux everywhere, this program provides free, easy access to openSUSE, a complete Linux distribution. The openSUSE project has three main goals: make openSUSE the easiest Linux for anyone to obtain and the most widely used Linux distribution; leverage open source collaboration to make openSUSE the world’s most usable Linux distribution and desktop environment for new and experienced Linux users; dramatically simplify and open the development and packaging processes to make openSUSE the platform of choice for Linux developers and software vendors.

7. PCLinuxOS
Rather than GNOME, PCLinuxOS uses the KDE desktop environment and is essentially a lighter-weight version of Mandriva. With good support for graphics drivers, browser plugins and media codecs, PCLinuxOS can be a good choice for beginners. Its release cycle can be erratic, though, and there is also no 64-bit version of the software.

8. CentOS
CentOS as a group is a community of open source contributors and users. Typical CentOS users are organizations and individuals that do not need strong commercial support in order to achieve successful operation. CentOS is 100% compatible rebuild of the Red Hat Enterprise Linux, in full compliance with Red Hat’s redistribution requirements. CentOS is for people who need enterprise class operating system stability without the cost of certification and support.

9. Mageia
Mageia is a fork of Mandriva Linux formed in September 2010 by former employees and contributors to the popular French Linux distribution. Unlike Mandriva, which is a commercial entity, the Mageia project is a community project and a non-profit organization whose goal is to develop a free Linux-based operating system.

10. Slackware Linux
Slackware Linux is extremely technical and clean distribution with only a very limited number of custom utilities. It uses a simple text-based system installer and primitive package management system that doesn’t resolve software dependencies. Slackware is to be considered as one of the cleanest and less buggy Linux distribution today.

Install and Run EXE Files in Linux

Install and Run EXE Files in Linux

Actually, the Linux architecture does not support the .exe files. But there is a free utility, Win that gives you Windows

environment in your Linux operating system. Installing the Wine software in your Linux computer you can install
and run your favorite Windows applications. To begin you have to install the Wine software in your Linux. After that
you can install any EXE file.

How to install Wine in your Linux operating system

Firstly, download the specific version of Wine for your Linux from WineHQ. In the download page you can see the

links of Wine software for various version of Linux e.g Ubuntu, Red Hat, Mandriva etc. Click on your preferred link
and follow the onscreen installation direction. Every version has its own installation procedure. You can also directly
install the Wine software from the terminal by the following commands:
sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install wine

Assuming that you are the root user and the internet connection is available. If you are using Ubuntu then

Press Alt + F2 and type gnome-terminal then hit enter.

This will open the terminal. Type su and hit enter to change your self in root user. You will be prompted for your

root password. Now, here type the above commands one by one. At the time of installation system can download
some files if required.

How to install and run EXE file

Navigate to the directory location of your windows application setup file and double click on it. It should start the

installation of the application (.exe) file. If it does not work then you can start the installation process from the
terminal by typing the following command
wine your_application_setup_file_name.exe

As example, if your application setup file resides in the desktop and the name of that file is install.exe then the

command would look like these

After installing the application in your Linux operating system, you can run it from Application > Wine > Programs.

You can also run the application from the terminal by typing the command

wine your_application_setup_file_name.exe.

Replace your_application_setup_file_name.exe with your own.

Note: Though Wine can provide an environment of Windows in Linux some application may not install or run

properly.

Install Microsoft Internet Explorer on Linux

You need to use Wine to run IE. But there is a small collection of shell script exists which makes your life quite easy. It is called Ies4linux.

IEs4Linux is the simpler way to have Microsoft Internet Explorer running on Linux (or any OS running Wine).

No clicks needed. No boring setup processes. No Wine complications. Just one easy script and you'll get three IE versions to test your Sites. And it's free and open source.
Install Internet Explorer under Linux

Open terminal and type the following commands:
$ wget http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/downloads/ies4linux-latest.tar.gz
$ tar -zxvf ies4linux-latest.tar.gz
$ cd ies4linux-*
$ ./ies4linux

What is IEs4Linux?

IEs4Linux is the simpler way to have Microsoft Internet Explorer running on Linux (Linux dedicated server or any OS running Wine like Mac OS X and other BSDs).

No clicks needed. No boring setup processes. No Wine complications. Just one easy script and you'll get many IE versions to test your Sites. And it's free and open source.

There is also beta support for IE7 and IE8.

Should I use IEs4Linux?

IEs4Linux was born 8 years ago, when IE6 was the most important browser in the world. Linux users needed to test their sites on IE6 and older versions of that time - IE5.5 and IE5.0.

Nowadays, IE6 usage is insignificant and IE5.x no loger exists. IE10 is the current version, and most people already use IE9 or IE8. IEs4Linux can't support this newer browsers anymore, since they're very advanced (a good thing). IEs4Linux had its time helping lots of people support old IE versions. But if need to support most recente IEs, I recommend VirtualBox or VMware running Windows on your Linux/Mac machine. Much easier and reliable.

How can I get this wonderful software?

Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu

Ø  Fedora

Ø  Gentoo

Ø  Debian

Ø  Suse

Ø  Mandriva

Ø  PCLinuxOS

General Instruction :
IEs 4 Linux needs two packages: cabextract and Wine. You can install them using your Linux package manager (synaptic, apt-get, yum, emerge etc) or go to their sites.

After that, download IEs 4 Linux. Extract it. Run 'ies4linux'. Follow the instructions.

In a terminal, you can do:

wget http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/downloads/ies4linux-latest.tar.gz
tar zxvf ies4linux-latest.tar.gz
cd ies4linux-*
./ies4linux
